Activities
When a new resident comes to Eshcol we like to get to know about their life history and what their interests and hobbies are and, based on this, our activity coordinators can then plan activities. Whether that be doing a puzzle, singing, bingo, or just having some one-to-one quality time, we will always try our best to cater to each individual need.
We have an Eshcol House mini bus which is wheelchair friendly; this is used often to take clients out to their destination of choice, the most popular trip is to St Mawes castle for an ice cream and coffee. We also find a trip to Lamorran Woods to see the swans with their cygnets a very enjoyable outing. Bluebell time is just gorgeous.
Karen from G Fitness who comes in monthly to carry out musical armchair exercise acitivities makes it a fun and positive social activity for our clients. Karen has a collection of soft play equipment and an hour of fun is guaranteed.
Our clients also have the opportunity to be pampered by our in-house therapist Nicky, who is a qualified masseuse. Nicky will often be found spending quality time giving foot massages, pedicures and manicures. Tara, our hairdresser comes in every six weeks giving our clients the opportunity to have their hair cut and styled to their choice.
Nickie our new Yoga instructor has recently joined Eshcol to carry out yoga sessions; this includes relaxation techniques and breathing exercises. Nickie is highly qualified and is able to adapt her techniques to suit our individual clients’ needs, meaning no matter their mobility Nickie will always be inclusive.
We often invite local bands and singers in, such as the Jumping Up up duo, Sylvia McEwan who has the most fantastic voice, also Vince Hall, cabaret singer. Residents who wish can come into the living area and enjoy the entertainment.
